Jacare Quartz (alligator Quartz)

Jacare Quartz

Jacaré (Alligator) QuartzJacare Quartz crystals feature an attractive Elestial Growth Formation. They are called Jacaré Quartz in Brazil because of its resemblance to the bumps on the back of a crocodile or alligator. (Jacaré is Portuguese for crocodile). Elestial crystals are mostly smoky in color, and are recognized by multiple terminations, all facing in the same direction and appearing to have melted into each other.

It is the parallel arangement of triangular crystal faces that distinguish a variety of Elestial Quartz as Jacaré Quartz. Since the very best alligator quartz comes from Brazil, we like to use the Brazilian reference and call this Jacaré Quartz. These specimens are rare and are very difficult to find.
