Rare Forgotten Dragon
Thunderegg Polished Half

A new private claim in the Owyhee Mountains in Oregon, very close to succor creek, is named the Forgotten
Dragon Thunderegg Bed. These unique eggs are characterized by a high-contrast blend of very dark matrix
and white-blue-grey/pale agate and quartz. This is a brand new thunderegg bed was discovered in 2016 near
the border between Nevada and Oregon. The host rock is really tough digging, but softer clay layers where
these eggs are found become accessible with perseverance. We were lucky to get one of the finest and most
interesting eggs we have seen in a long time. This one has the shape of a ghostly alien or monster figure with
a white owl in its neck and a dragons head (or fireball) on a thin appendage…what do you see?

Richardson Ranch Opal and
Agate Thunderegg cut Half

This is an amazing teaching specimen. We have used this piece for years to explain how minerals drip into the open
centers of thundereggs, agates, geodes etc. There are several stalactite formations and color differentiated drip rings
on the floor built upon the waterline layers of different minerals, This is one of those few specimens that evoke
questions and promote interest in rock formations.  Beautifully polished display specimen that will stand by itself at
several angles. This piece has been in our personal collection for many years!
