Treasure Scoop aka the famous Gem Scoop...

The original Gem Scoop was manufactured and sold by the Estwing Mfg Co in Rockford, Illinois. Estwing stopped production in 2004. Rockhounds were at a loss for this great geological tool, but Estwing did not sell enough of these to keep them in their production line.

Sisters Rocks/Fundamental Rockhound in Westminster, Colorado realized the growing demand for these scoops and obtained the manufacturing rights for the original specifications and became the sole patent owner/distributor of the renamed Fundamental Rockhound Treasure Scoop. They even expanded the line and added the 42 inch scoop as an option to their original 36 inch scoop! We were proud to be an Authorized Internet Dealer for several years in Nevada and later North Carolina for the amazing Fundamental Rockhound Treasure Scoop. Sadly, we were informed by Sisters Rocks that they had sold the rights for this wonderful tool to Kingsley North, a world wide lapidary dealer based in Michigan. Kingsley North contacted us with their offer for our resale pricing. Compared to Kingsley North's ability to sell large volumes and their wholesale requirement on how many we must buy at a time, took us out of the competitive market for these scoops. We are a mom and pop rock shop, not a major large volume dealer.

Sisters Rocks no longer has treasure scoops listed on their website at
