| Hand shaped Crinoid Fossil egg from Madagascar Crinoids, or sea lilies as they are sometimes called, were on this earth millions of years before the dinosaurs and co-existed with them for millions of years after. These plates look like buttons when fossilized. This Crinoid Fossil egg measures 2.74” tall (69mm) by 1.97” wide (50mm) and weighs 0.53 lb (243g) This specimen is beautifully hand carved and is not polished. | Item # EFC04114411 Fossil Cell Stone Egg from Pakistan $23.00 |
| This is a very highly polished Fossil Cell Stone egg from Pakistan. Cut and polished from Fossil Cell Stone. Although the name of the stone is Fossil Cell Stone they are not fossilized cells. The "cells" are sedimentary in origin and are not fossils. Some of these "cells" are over 1" long. These "cells" form under the ocean in shallow water on a layered shelf. Hardened or semi-hardened mud is stirred up by ocean waves. The layers of material get broken up and moved a short distance and rounded off while being moved. Oxygen in the water causes a layer of sediment to form on the pieces before they are repeatedly moved, joined and covered up again and eventually form rock. These rocks are probably Cambrian Era (500 to 570 million years old) because occasionally some small trilobite fossil fragments are found in the"cells". This Fossil Cell Stone egg measures 2.76” tall (70mm) by 1.97” wide (50mm) and weighs 0.56 lb (255g) |
